The Bay of Islands is the home to some of the most spectacular diving in New Zealand. It has a colourful mixture of tropical and temperate marine species, some hard but mainly soft corals and sponges, pelagic fish,colourful reef fish and invertebrates.
A diverse bottom topography of volcanic reefs, boulders and lava flows to huge drop-offs, pinnacles, canyons, tunnels, caves, caverns and swim through allow for some exciting yet safe diving.
There are hundreds of dive sites with depths ranging from 5 to 35 meters with a visibility of 10 to 30 meters. Paihia Dive's charters cater for a wide range of diving experience.
