River Boarding is best suited for clients that enjoy water sports and have a reasonable swimming ability. You will be given a comprehensive safety talk on the way to the river and the guides will map out what is to be expected.

Once you reach Goldfield’s Mining Centre you will change into River Boarding equipment and then head to the put in point at the Roaring Meg Natural Bridge in the Kawarau Gorge. A full safety briefing is given including demonstrations and a practical training session. Once the guides are satisfied that you are ready, you kick into the main current and the excitement begins.

Continuous action linking six rapids will keep you on the edge for the 45 minutes. After the rapids mellow out, there is an optional Jet Ski Rescue Sledge ride (exclusive to Mad Dog River Boarding) for those of you still looking for more action. At the end of the trip, there are a series of rock jumps ranging from small to huge and an awesome rope swing. After the action relax, enjoy something to eat and drink at Goldfields café and bar facilities, or have a wander around the historic Goldfields Mining Centre.
